FOCUS
FOCUS is a reentry mentoring program, proactive in its dedication to reduce recidivism and enhance community safety. It is committed to assisting the offenders enrolled in its program to first stabilize their lives on release from jail and then to help them achieve self-sufficiency. The recidivism rate nationwide is over 80%. Mentor programs have proven to significantly reduce the number of offenders who return to incarceration.
This project, which includes an extensive training program, is currently open for volunteers over 25 yrs old. Also, volunteers with professional training in family therapy, prison education, parenting, group dynamics, volunteer management, probation, and youth at risk programs are being recruited to consult with the Advisory Board and serve as resources for the mentors.

Community Table: Meals for Those In Need
Every 4th Fri of the Month -Volunteer to serve meals!
This is an exciting project that serves approx. 60 hungry people every fourth Fri of the month -who are most grateful. We feel this is a true community partnership project because of the many groups involved including: The Buddhist Coalition, The Carriage House/Community Table, St. Johns Episcopal, Community Food Share, The Shambhala Center, and prominent chef's from the local community.
BCBA views the volunteering experience as a rich opportunity for cultivating awareness and spiritual development.
No training necessary, just wear something you wouldn't mind getting a little food on :o)
What to expect: Serving food, cleaning up, setting up chairs-tables, washing dishes, talking with people.
Steve Tombleson from Carriage House will be in the kitchen to show you around.
